Goodbye to the days where I would do a quick sweep of
concealer under my eyes and head out the door – hello to those annoying fine
lines that now cause my concealer to crease only a few hours into the day.
Although I have always preferred refreshing setting sprays over setting
powders, I figured it was time to try something new.
I popped into a Sephora hoping someone would be able to
assist me on finding something to prevent concealer creasing. Out I came with a
little container holding the most precious powder on the market: Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder
(0.14 oz, $30 cdn).
The powder is described as a translucent, weightless
powder that sets under-eye concealer to brighten dark circles and diminish
signs of visible fine lines. There are light reflecting pigments that aim to
deliver a radiant finish.
Packaging
The powder comes in a simple standard plastic container.
When you open the initial lid there is a sticker that prevents the powder from spilling.
I would recommend keeping the sticker on and peeling it back when you need more
powder to prevent messy accidents (I learnt this the hard way!).
Product
The product is true to its word; a finely milled, light
reflecting powder that helps reduce dark circles and fine lines. I noticed an
instant difference when I first applied the powder. I have tried this product
with a few different concealers but definitely have noticed the best results
with the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. There is no more creasing and my under
eyes look much brighter. You can use either a beauty blender or brush to apply,
myself choosing a small brush to gently tap the powder under my eye.
Verdict
Personally, this is a game changer for me. After trying
many different products and different ways of application, I’m so happy I have
finally found something that works to brighten my under eyes while reducing
fine line visibility. If you don’t have fine lines, you could probably use a
translucent setting powder combined with a brightening cream instead, however, if you have fine lines – you need this in your
life. It’s on a holy grail status for me.
Repurchase?
Yes – a little goes a long way with this product so I don’t
think I will need to repurchase for a long time. I’m going on almost half a
year with this product and even on daily use, I haven’t put a dent in it yet!
I do have fine lines, but I've under the impression that a translucent powder works great for me. maybe it is because I never tried a brightening one to compare.

Ah, fair enough. I do love how fine the powder of this one is and it does have the light reflecting which makes all the difference for me!
DeleteThis sounds amazing! Great review.

Thanks, Anika! :)
DeleteI have seen many raved about this powder all over YouTube but I personally never tried it. It's said that e.l.f has a powder that is a great dupe for this and I'm planning to pick that up...what can I say, I'm a cheapskate. LOL!
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
LOL let me know how it works! I should try it out and compare the two!
DeleteYes, please! I hope you do pick it up cause I would appreciate a comparison post, please!
Deletehaha I will definitely let you know when it goes up! I just need to buy enough to make the shipping worth it!! haha :D
DeleteIt's been YEARS since I researched setting powders so much that I didn't realize Laura Mercier had a white 'translucent' one out. I bought a yellow-ish powder compact at Sephora, from her brand. And it's still going strong (because I literally powder my face twice a year lol).
ReplyDeletehaha yeah, I prefer a setting spray but for my under eye, this powder is life!!
DeleteIf a product can reduce the fine line visibility, it is a winner! I will keep this in mind and give it a try, I hope it gives a nice finish.

It has a great finish for me, personally - hopefully you love it as well when you try it!
DeleteThis sounds great! I've heard lovely things all around the internet on this stuff. I've never tried it, but translucent powder is a must for me.

Yes, I am so happy I have this in my life! :)
DeleteEven though I do not have that fine lines problem, I've heard great things about this powder as everybody seems to think it isn't drying when all the powders I try really dries my skin out! So I guess my question is: did you find it drying ?

How lucky! I was so sad to notice a few fine lines under my eyes in the recent years. I do use an eye cream and let it absorb before I apply any makeup. With the cream, concealer and setting powder my eyes don't have any dry patches, however, all skin types are different. I would recommend visiting a local sephora and ask them to apply it on you or for a sample (some will provide one even though it isn't a liquid) just to get an idea of how it will work on your skin! :)
DeleteI have heard so much about this powder! Thanks for sharing!

I definitely recommend the powder! Let me know how you like it!
DeleteWondering how much better this is than the Translucent version (and essentially what's the difference). Looks super pretty, however!
ReplyDeleteThis powder has light reflecting pigments to brighten the under eye area whereas the other version doesn't! :) I absolutely love this powder!
